Why Some Embassies No Longer Issue “Income Certificates”
Many embassies and consulates in Thailand have stopped issuing income certificates for their citizens because:
- These offices do not have the legal authority to verify the actual income of their nationals.
- They cannot confirm the accuracy of the income information declared by applicants.
- They wish to avoid legal liability in case the provided information turns out to be false.
Countries That Still Issue “Income or Pension Certificates”
If your country still provides income or pension verification documents for use in a Thai visa extension, you can follow these steps:
- Make an appointment in advance. Many embassies require an online booking, and waiting times can range from several weeks to months.
- Check with your embassy in Thailand. Ask directly whether they still issue “Income or Pension Certificates” for Thai visa extensions.
- Prepare the required documents as specified by your embassy — such as income statements, pension documents, or recent bank statements.
It is recommended to request an income verification letter from your home country before coming to Thailand.
