If you enter Thailand under the Visa Exemption scheme and your online visa application is approved after you have already arrived, the approved visa will not take effect immediately.

This is because, at the time you entered Thailand, your visa had not yet been approved.
Therefore, the immigration system did not detect any visa, and the officer stamped you in under Visa Exemption.

To activate the approved visa, you must:

1. Leave Thailand, and then
2. Re-enter the country

When you come back, the immigration officer will automatically stamp you in under the approved visa.

Important Warning: If Your Visa Is Approved Before You Enter Thailand

Some travelers may receive their approved online visa before their travel date, but they do not want to use it yet.
They may prefer to enter Thailand first with Visa Exemption for a short stay, and then leave and re-enter later to activate the approved visa.

However, this is not possible.

Once your visa is approved, it already appears in the Thai Immigration system.
