ตลอดระยะเวลา 6 ปี คนไทยยื่นขอวีซ่าเชงเก้นรวมประมาณ 1.72 ล้านใบ
คิดเป็น 1.79% ของจำนวนคำขอทั่วโลก
ทำให้ประเทศไทยติดอันดับ Top 10 ประเทศที่ยื่นขอวีซ่าเชงเก้นมากที่สุด

อัตราการปฏิเสธเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่เพียง 3.45%
ถือว่าต่ำมากเมื่อเทียบกับหลายประเทศ

Pre-COVID Overview (2014–2019)

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Thai nationals were consistently among the top groups applying for Schengen visas.

Over the six-year period, Thai applicants submitted approximately 1.72 million Schengen visa applications,
accounting for 1.79% of total applications worldwide.
This placed Thailand among the Top 10 countries with the highest number of Schengen visa applications.

The average refusal rate during this period was only 3.45%,
which is considered very low compared to many other countries.
Among Schengen member states, Sweden recorded the highest refusal rate for Thai applicants;
however, overall, it was not regarded as a particularly difficult country for visa approval.

COVID-19 Period (2020–2022): Fewer Applications, Stricter Assessments

When COVID-19 spread globally, international travel was heavily restricted.
As a result, the number of Schengen visa applications from Thai nationals declined significantly,
dropping to an average of approximately 100,000 applications per year.

Applicants during this period were mostly individuals with genuine travel necessities,
such as business travel, official duties, or other essential purposes,
rather than leisure tourism.

Consequently, visa refusal rates increased sharply.
The average refusal rate rose to 8.57%,
nearly three times higher than the pre-COVID level.
Once again, Sweden remained the country with the highest refusal rate for Thai applicants.

Many potential applicants chose not to apply,
due to uncertainty over whether international travel would actually be possible.

Post-COVID Period (2023–2024): Recovery in Volume, Structural Changes

Following the global reopening of borders, Thai nationals resumed traveling to Europe in large numbers.
Schengen visa application volumes increased noticeably.

In 2024, Thai nationals submitted a total of 265,243 Schengen visa applications,
placing Thailand at 9th worldwide,
and accounting for 2.28% of all applications.

Although application volumes have returned to levels close to those seen before COVID-19,
refusal rates have not fully reverted.
The average refusal rate stood at approximately 6.17%,
lower than during the pandemic but still slightly higher than pre-COVID levels.
