1. Prepare Documents Before Entering Thailand (Highly Recommended)

Before traveling to Thailand, it is strongly recommended to contact Thai government authorities or a Thai embassy abroad to authenticate important documents, especially:

• Proof of income or pension of at least 40,000 THB per month
• Marriage certificate registered abroad
• Divorce certificate from a previous marriage (if applicable)

These documents are required when applying for a one-year extension of stay in Thailand.
If you do not complete document authentication before arriving, make sure to check whether your country’s embassy in Thailand provides this service, as some embassies do not.

2. TM.6 Online Registration (TDAC)

You must complete the TM.6 online registration (TDAC) within 3 days before entering Thailand.

Important notes:

• The online registration is free of charge
• If you do not complete it in advance, you may be required to do so upon arrival, which can cause delays at immigration
• The TDAC document is required when applying for a visa extension

3. Residence Notification (TM.30)

• The property owner or host (such as a Thai spouse) is responsible for submitting the report
• The notification must be made after you arrive at your place of residence
• It can be submitted online or in person at the local Immigration Office

Important: The TM.30 receipt is required when applying for a one-year extension.

4. Opening a Thai Bank Account (If Using the 400,000 THB Deposit Method)

This should be done within the first month after arrival.

• If applying for a one-year extension using the bank deposit method:
  • You must have at least 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account
  • The funds must remain in the account for at least 2 months before applying
• If applying using proof of income or pension:
  • A Thai bank deposit is not required
  • Check with your country’s embassy in Thailand whether they issue income certification

Income documents should be in English or translated into Thai.
In some cases, the translation may need to be certified by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is advisable to confirm requirements with Immigration in advance.

5. Applying for a One-Year Extension of Stay

• Submit the application at the Immigration Office
• Apply at least 15 days before the original 90-day permission expires
• Fee: 1,900 THB

If using a bank deposit:

• Obtain a bank confirmation letter
• Update the bank book on the day of application

If using proof of income:

• Immigration officers may request additional supporting documents
• It is recommended to check with the Immigration Office in advance

6. 90-Day Reporting (TM.47)

• Foreigners staying long term must report their address every 90 days
• Reporting can be done online up to 15 days before the due date
• Or in person at the Immigration Office

7. Important Warning: Re-entry Permit

If you plan to leave Thailand while your visa or extension is still valid, you must apply for a Re-entry Permit before departure.

• The NON-O visa is Single Entry
• Leaving Thailand without a Re-entry Permit will cancel your visa immediately
• You will need to apply for a new visa from outside Thailand

Re-entry Permit fees:

• Single re-entry: 1,000 THB
• Multiple re-entry: 3,800 THB

A Re-entry Permit does not extend your visa.
The original visa expiration date remains unchanged.
