An eVisa is a digital record of your immigration status stored in the UK government’s online system.

Previously, visa approval was shown through a visa sticker placed inside the passport.
With the new system, the visa exists only in digital form.

The visa application process remains the same as before.

1. Apply for a UK visa as usual.
2. Keep your application number starting with GWF…
   (This number usually appears in the top right corner of the online application.)
3. Create an account with UK Visas and Immigration.

However, there are two important differences:

• The visa application center will not keep your passport on your appointment day.
• When a decision is made, UKVI will notify you by email.

If your visa is approved, you will receive your eVisa reference number.

Even after your visa is approved, you cannot download the eVisa as a document to show immigration officers.

Instead, you must:

1. Create a UKVI account
2. Add one of the following:
   • Your eVisa number, or
   • Your application number starting with GWF…

Once linked, your visa status will appear in your account.

When arriving in the United Kingdom, log in to your UKVI account.

You can then generate a Share Code.

This code allows immigration officers to verify your visa status through the UK system.

A UKVI account allows you to manage your digital visa information, including:

• Viewing your eVisa details
• Generating a Share Code to confirm your immigration status
• Updating passport or travel document information

Anyone planning to apply for a UK visa can create a UKVI account in advance.

• There is no fee to create the account.
• The process takes only a few minutes.

However, your eVisa will only appear in the system when:

• Your GWF application number has been added, and
• Your visa has been approved.

The email you receive from UKVI usually only confirms the visa decision.

Your actual visa status is stored in the UKVI online system.

Therefore, eVisa holders are strongly advised to:

• Create a UKVI account
• Check their eVisa details
• Link their passport information to the system

This ensures that airlines and UK immigration officers can verify your visa status when you travel.
