วัตถุประสงค์ของการทำวีซ่ารัน

1. เพื่ออยู่ไทยด้วยฟรีวีซ่าครั้งใหม่

• วัตถุประสงค์หลักคือเพื่อให้ได้รับการ ปั๊มตราฟรีวีซ่า ครั้งใหม่ เพื่อเริ่มต้นนับระยะเวลาการพำนักในไทยใหม่อีกครั้ง
• สามารถทำได้ทั้งในกรณีที่:
  • อยู่ไม่เต็มโควตา: สามารถเข้า-ออกประเทศบ่อยได้ตามความจำเป็น
  • อยู่เต็มโควตา: เช่น พำนักครบ 90 วัน (อยู่ 60 วันและต่ออายุอีก 30 วัน) จากนั้นจึงออกจากไทยและกลับเข้ามาใหม่เพื่อขอปั๊มตราฟรีวีซ่าอีกรอบ (มีข้อควรระวังเรื่องโควตาที่จำกัดคือ ทำได้เพียง 2 รอบต่อปี สำหรับผู้ที่ใช้ระยะเวลาเต็มโควตา)

2. เพื่อรอดำเนินการเปลี่ยนประเภทวีซ่า/ขออยู่ต่อ

• ใช้เป็นวิธี รักษาสถานะทางกฎหมาย ในช่วงที่การดำเนินการขออยู่ต่อหรือเปลี่ยนประเภทวีซ่าไม่ทันตามกำหนด
• ตัวอย่าง: ดำเนินการเรื่องจดทะเบียนสมรสไม่ทัน หรือการยื่นเรื่องต่อวีซ่าเกินวันที่สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง (ตม.) กำหนด การออกจากไทยและกลับเข้ามาด้วยฟรีวีซ่าจะทำให้มีเวลาสำหรับการยื่นเอกสารดำเนินการต่อได้
• ข้อควรระวัง: ต้องระมัดระวังเรื่องโควตาการเข้า-ออกประเทศด้วยฟรีวีซ่าที่อาจจะหมดลง

3. ใช้เพื่อเปลี่ยนประเภทวีซ่า

• การเปลี่ยนวีซ่าในประเทศไทย มักทำได้เฉพาะจาก ฟรีวีซ่า/วีซ่าท่องเที่ยว เป็น วีซ่า Non-O เท่านั้น
• หากต้องการเปลี่ยนระหว่างวีซ่าประเภท Non-O ที่คล้ายกัน (เช่น Non-O ติดตามครอบครัว เป็น Non-O เกษียณ) ไม่สามารถเปลี่ยนภายในประเทศได้
• ขั้นตอนคือ: ต้องออกจากไทยเพื่อให้วีซ่า Non-O เดิมหมดสิทธิ์ลงก่อน แล้วจึงกลับเข้ามาด้วยฟรีวีซ่าเพื่อดำเนินการยื่นขอเปลี่ยนเป็นวีซ่า Non-O ประเภทใหม่

1. To obtain a new visa-exempt entry

• The primary purpose is to receive a new visa-exempt stamp so that the stay period in Thailand resets.
• This can be done in cases such as:
  • Not using the full quota:
    You can exit and re-enter Thailand as often as needed.
  • Using the full quota:
    For example, after staying 90 days (60 days + 30-day extension), you may leave Thailand and re-enter to receive a new visa-exempt stamp.
    Note: There are limits on how many times this can be done, such as only two full-quota entries per year, depending on immigration rules.

2. To buy time while waiting for a visa change/extension

• A visa run can help you maintain legal status when your visa extension or change of visa type cannot be processed before the deadline.
• Example:
  If your marriage registration is not completed in time, or your visa application date exceeds the deadline set by Immigration, leaving Thailand and returning with a visa-exempt entry gives you additional time to prepare and submit your documents.
• Caution: Be mindful of the annual quota for visa-exempt entries, which may limit how often you can do this.

3. To switch to a different visa type

• In Thailand, visa conversion is usually limited to changing from visa-exempt / tourist visa → to Non-O.
• If you want to switch between similar Non-O categories (e.g., from Non-O Family to Non-O Retirement), you cannot convert the visa inside Thailand.
• Process: You must leave Thailand to invalidate the current Non-O visa, then re-enter on a visa-exempt entry and apply for the new Non-O type.
