1. เอกสารที่ชาวต่างชาติต้องเตรียม

1. ใบรับรองโสด (Affirmation of Single Status) ออกโดยหน่วยงานที่รับรองความโสดในประเทศของตน
2. หนังสือเดินทาง (Passport) พร้อมสำเนาหน้าที่มีรูปถ่าย และหน้าวีซ่าที่ใช้เข้าประเทศไทย
3. เอกสารอื่นๆ ที่ทางอำเภออาจร้องขอเพิ่มเติม เช่น สูติบัตร หรือใบหย่ากรณีเคยสมรสมาก่อน

2. การรับรองเอกสารในประเทศต้นทาง

▪ ขั้นแรก: ต้องนำ เอกสารทั้งหมดไปรับรองความถูกต้องไม่ปลอมแปลง (Legalization) จาก กระทรวงการต่างประเทศของประเทศนั้น

▪ ขั้นที่สอง: จากนั้นควรถาม สถานทูตไทยในประเทศนั้น ว่า ต้องนำเอกสารไปรับรองที่สถานทูตไทยด้วยหรือไม่ (บางประเทศจำเป็น บางประเทศไม่จำเป็น)

▪ ขั้นที่สาม: บางประเทศสามารถขอใบรับรองโสดได้ที่สถานทูตของประเทศตนในประเทศไทย แต่ในบางกรณีอาจต้องรอคิวนัดหมายเป็นเวลานานจนวีซ่าใกล้หมดอายุ ขณะที่บางประเทศไม่สามารถดำเนินการได้เลย ดังนั้นจึงควรเตรียมเอกสารให้เรียบร้อยตั้งแต่ประเทศต้นทางจะดีที่สุด

3. การรับรองการแปลภาษาไทย

หลังจากเอกสารผ่านการรับรองว่าไม่ปลอมแปลงจากต่างประเทศแล้ว

• แปลเอกสารทั้งหมดเป็นภาษาไทย
• นำต้นฉบับภาษาต่างประเทศ และฉบับแปลไป รับรองความถูกต้องของคำแปล ที่ กรมการกงสุล กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ (ถนนแจ้งวัฒนะ) (สามารถส่งไปรษณีย์ได้)

4. การจดทะเบียนสมรสในไทย

1. คู่สมรสชาวไทยควร ติดต่อสอบถามอำเภอที่จะไปจดทะเบียนล่วงหน้า เพราะบางอำเภออาจ…
   • ไม่รับจดทะเบียนกรณีคู่สมรสต่างชาติ
   • ต้องนัดหมายล่วงหน้า หรือมีคิวรอนาน ควรเผื่อเวลาไว้ล่วงหน้าอย่างน้อย 2 สัปดาห์สำหรับขั้นตอนนี้
     
2. ในวันจดทะเบียน ต้องมี พยาน 2 คน และอย่างน้อยหนึ่งในนั้นต้องเป็น ล่ามแปลภาษา ให้เจ้าหน้าที่ฟังได้ถูกต้อง

1. Documents Required from the Foreigner

• Certificate of No Marriage (Affirmation of Single Status) — issued by the relevant authority in the foreigner’s home country to confirm single status.
• Passport — including a copy of the photo page and the visa page used to enter Thailand.
• Other documents that may be requested by the district office (amphur), such as a birth certificate or divorce certificate if previously married.

2. Legalization of Documents in the Home Country

▪ Step 1: All foreign documents must be authenticated (legalized) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the foreigner’s home country to verify that they are genuine.

▪ Step 2: After that, check with the Royal Thai Embassy in that country to confirm whether additional legalization by the Thai Embassy is required — as this depends on each country’s regulations.

▪ Step 3: Some countries allow applicants to obtain a Certificate of No Marriage at their own embassy in Thailand. However, in some cases, the waiting time for an appointment can be so long that the visa may expire, while for other countries, this service is not available at all.

Therefore, it is highly recommended to prepare all documents in your home country before coming to Thailand.

3.Thai Translation and Certification

Once the documents have been authenticated abroad:

• Translate all documents into Thai.
• Submit both the original documents and the Thai translations to the Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Chaeng Wattana Road) for certification of translation accuracy.

4. Marriage Registration in Thailand

• The Thai spouse should contact the district office (amphur) in advance to confirm requirements, as procedures vary by location. Some district offices:
  • Do not accept marriage registration for international couples, or
  • Require advance appointments with a long waiting period. You should allow at least two weeks in advance for this process.

• On the registration day, there must be two witnesses, and at least one of them must act as an interpreter for communication with the officer.
• It’s best to check in advance whether the district office provides an interpreter or if you must arrange one yourself.
