(Passport)

เว็บไซต์สำหรับแจ้ง: tm47.immigration.go.th

(Log in)

If you hold a Non-O visa in Thailand, do you still need to report every 90 days (TM.47)? How is it different from TM.30?

For foreigners holding a long-term visa, such as a Non-O visa or other types of long-term visas, once you are allowed to stay in Thailand for more than 90 days, you still have a duty to report yourself every 90 days. This is known as TM.47 reporting.

⬩➤Differences Between TM.47 and TM.30
TM.30 (Notification of residence): ▼

Counted as the 1st day

  • Target Group: Covers a much broader group of people. Almost everyone who enters Thailand must do it, including tourists.
  • Frequency: Must be done every time you enter Thailand or change your place of residence.
  • Who reports: Hotels (if staying in a hotel) or Thai house owners (if staying at a Thai house).
  • Fines: 800 to 2,000 Baht.
  • Nature of Task: Required when applying for your first extension of stay. Most people tend to worry more about TM.30 because it is new to them during their initial stay in the country.

TM.47 (Notification of staying over 90 days): ▼

Counted as the 90th day

  • Target Group: For foreigners living in Thailand long-term (all types of Non-Immigrant Visas) who stay longer than 90 days.
  • Frequency: Must be reported every 90 days.
  • Fines: The fine is quite high, ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 Baht. (If you report late yourself, the fine is 2,000 Baht. If you are arrested, it is 4,000 Baht. On the Immigration website, the maximum stated is 5,000 Baht.)
  • Nature of Task: This process happens after your extension of stay has already been approved. Because of this, tourists or foreigners feel more relaxed and less panicked about it compared to TM.30. However, it feels more boring because you have to do it repeatedly every 90 days (about 3 times a year, not counting the first time you apply for the extension).

⬩➤ Day Counting and Reset Rules
  • TM.47 resets back to Day 1 every time you leave Thailand: If you travel out of the country and return, the system starts counting Day 1 again immediately. Therefore, if you travel in and out of Thailand frequently and never stay up to 90 consecutive days, you will never need to file TM.47.
  • TM.30 must be done every time you enter the country: People who travel in and out often will deal with TM.30 frequently. On the other hand, people who stay long-term might do TM.30 only once, but they must do TM.47 every 90 days.
  • First Round Counting: On the day your first stay extension is approved (for example, January 1st), it counts as your first 90-day report automatically. The next appointment slip will count forward for about another 90 days (for example, March 29th). There will be a stamp or a small paper slip attached inside your passport specifying your next appointment date.

(Note: Certain visa types, such as wealthy global citizen visas or special visa categories, may enjoy the convenience of being exempt from the 90-day reporting. However, standard Non-O visa holders still need to report as usual.)

⬩➤ How many days in advance or late can it be reported?

You can report within the following time windows:

  • In advance: Up to 15 days before the 90-day due date.
  • Late reporting: Up to 7 days after the 90-day due date.
  • If more than 7 days late: The online system will be locked. You must report in person at an Immigration office and pay the fine as required by law.

(Example calculation: If you enter Thailand on October 1st, the 90-day due date will be around December 29th.)

How to Report TM.47

⬩➤ Method 1: Report in person at an Immigration office

Documents needed:

  1. Passport
  2. The latest TM.47 receipt slip (or the slip received when you applied for your first extension)

Once submitted, the officer will stamp or attach a new receipt slip with your next appointment date into your passport.

⬩➤ Method 2: Online reporting (Recommended)

Reporting online saves time because you don’t have to travel to Immigration multiple times a year, and no document attachments are needed. However, the key condition is you must do it before the due date (never let it expire).

Website for reporting: tm47.immigration.go.th

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Register an account (Register ID) and confirm your identity via the link sent to your email.
  2. Log in to the system.
  3. Select the “New Application” menu (or choose “Check Status” to view previously submitted items).
  4. Verify system data: Enter your passport number and nationality, then click the magnifying glass icon to search. If your stay extension history appears, you can proceed with the online process.
  5. Fill in details according to your passport:
    • First & Last Name, Gender, Date of Birth
    • Date of arrival in Thailand (enter your latest entry date)
    • Visa expiration date
  6. Fill in residence and contact details: Enter your current address, phone number, and the name of a contact person (anyone living in the same house).
  7. Submit: The system status will change to waiting for officer review.
  8. Track the status: Check back in the system after about 3 days. If the status shows “Approve”, print the receipt slip and keep it. If it shows “Reject”, it means there is an issue with your data or you missed the deadline, and you must visit an Immigration office in person.
