หลายคนที่ถือ วีซ่า Non-O เพื่อพำนักระยะยาวในประเทศไทย อาจยังไม่รู้ว่า หาก “ออกนอกประเทศ” โดย ไม่ได้ทำ Re-entry Permit วีซ่าจะ “ถูกยกเลิกทันที” แม้ว่าวีซ่ายังไม่หมดอายุก็ตาม

ทำไมถึงถูกยกเลิก?
เพราะ วีซ่า Non-O ส่วนใหญ่เป็นแบบ Single Entry หมายความว่าอนุญาตให้ “เข้าประเทศได้เพียงครั้งเดียว”
หากคุณออกจากไทยเมื่อไหร่ — วีซ่าก็จะสิ้นสุดทันทีในวันนั้น แม้ว่าจะเหลือวันพำนักอีกหลายเดือนก็ตาม
การทำ “Re-entry Permit”
หากมีความจำเป็นต้องเดินทางออกนอกประเทศไทย ไม่ว่าจะไปประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน หรือกลับบ้านชั่วคราว ถ้ายังมีอายุวีซ่าเหลืออยู่ และต้องการกลับเข้าไทยภายในอายุวีซ่าที่เหลือ สิ่งที่ต้องทำก่อนออกจากไทย คือ ขอใบอนุญาตกลับเข้าประเทศ (Re-entry Permit)
สามารถติดต่อได้ที่ สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง (ตม.) ใกล้บ้าน หรือทำที่ สนามบินก่อนออกนอกประเทศ ก็ได้
ค่าธรรมเนียมมี 2 แบบ:
- ครั้งเดียว (Single Re-entry) — 1,000 บาท
- ไม่จำกัดครั้ง (Multiple Re-entry) — 3,800 บาท
ตัวอย่าง: วางแผนก่อนออกจากไทย กรณีวีซ่าจะหมดอายุในอีก 3 เดือน
ถ้าวีซ่า Non-O จะหมดอายุในอีก 3 เดือนข้างหน้า แต่เรามีแผนจะกลับเข้าไทยอีกครั้ง “ในอีก 3 เดือนพอดี”
แถมยังตั้งใจจะอยู่ยาวในไทยอีกหลายเดือนหรือเป็นปี สามารถเลือกดำเนินการได้ 2 ทาง ดังนี้
➡ ทางเลือกที่ 1: ขออยู่ต่อก่อน แล้วจึงทำ Re-entry Permit
- หากต้องการให้วีซ่ายังมีอายุยาวต่อเนื่อง สามารถ ขออยู่ต่อ กับ ตม. ก่อนออกนอกประเทศได้
- เมื่อได้รับการต่ออายุเรียบร้อยแล้ว ให้ทำ Re-entry Permit ก่อนเดินทางออกจากไทย
- ข้อดี:
- เมื่อกลับเข้าไทยอีกครั้ง วีซ่าจะยังคงสถานะเดิม
- ไม่ต้องเริ่มขอวีซ่าใหม่
- ข้อควรจำ:
- ระยะเวลาวีซ่าจะยังหมดอายุตามวันเดิมของการขออยู่ต่อ การทำ Re-entry ไม่ได้ยืดเวลาให้ยาวขึ้น
➡ ทางเลือกที่ 2: ออกนอกประเทศเลย แล้วค่อยขอวีซ่าใหม่
- ถ้าคุณไม่ได้รีบกลับมาในระยะเวลาสั้นๆ อาจเลือก ออกนอกประเทศโดยไม่ทำ Re-entry Permit ได้เลย
- เพราะถ้าต้องการกลับเข้าไทยใหม่ ก็สามารถ ขอวีซ่าใหม่จากสถานทูตไทย แล้วค่อย “ขออยู่ต่อ” ได้ตามปกติ
- ข้อดี:
- วีซ่าใหม่มีอายุเต็มอีกครั้ง
- เหมาะสำหรับผู้ที่วางแผนอยู่ไทยระยะยาวรอบใหม่
วีซ่า Non-O สามารถใช้เข้า-ออกไทยได้ครั้งเดียว เมื่อออกนอกประเทศไทย วีซ่าจะ “สิ้นสุดทันที”
การทำ Re-entry Permit ไม่ใช่การต่ออายุวีซ่า แต่เป็นการขออนุญาตออกจากไทยและมีสิทธิ์กลับเข้าไทยใหม่ด้วยวีซ่าเดิม โดยระยะเวลาพำนักยังหมดอายุ “ตามเดิม” ที่ระบุไว้ในวีซ่า
Many holders of a Non-O visa for long-term stay in Thailand may not realize that if they leave the country without obtaining a Re-entry Permit, their visa will be automatically canceled — even if it has not yet expired.

Why is it canceled?
Because most Non-O visas are Single Entry, which means they allow you to enter Thailand only once.
So, once you leave Thailand — your visa expires immediately, even if you still have several months left on your permitted stay.
Applying for a “Re-entry Permit”
If you need to travel outside Thailand — whether to a neighboring country or back home temporarily — and you still have a valid visa and plan to return before your visa expires, you must apply for a Re-entry Permit before leaving Thailand.
You can apply at: The Immigration Office near your residence, or At the airport before departure.
Fees:
- Single Re-entry Permit — 1,000 THB
- Multiple Re-entry Permit — 3,800 THB
Example: Planning to leave Thailand when your visa expires in 3 months
If your Non-O visa will expire in 3 months, but you plan to return to Thailand exactly in 3 months, and intend to stay long-term (for many months or even a year), there are two options:
➡ Option 1: Apply for an extension before leaving, then get a Re-entry Permit
- If you want to keep your visa valid continuously, you can apply for a visa extension at Immigration before leaving Thailand.
- Once your extension is approved, apply for a Re-entry Permit before your departure.
- Advantages:
- When you return to Thailand, your visa status remains valid.
- No need to apply for a new visa.
- Note:
- Your visa will still expire on the same date as your current extension — the Re-entry Permit does not extend your visa duration.
➡ Option 2: Leave the country and apply for a new visa later
- If you don’t plan to return soon, you can simply leave Thailand without a Re-entry Permit.
- When you wish to return, you can apply for a new Non-O visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad and then apply for an extension as usual.
- Advantages:
- You’ll get a new visa with a full validity period again.
- Suitable for those planning another long-term stay in Thailand.
A Non-O visa allows only one entry into Thailand. Once you leave the country, the visa will immediately expire.
Obtaining a Re-entry Permit is not an extension of your visa — it is simply permission to leave Thailand and re-enter using the same visa.
The permitted period of stay remains the same as originally stated on the visa.
