ขอวีซ่าใหม่ vs ขออยู่ต่อ (Extension)

• ขอวีซ่าใหม่: ต้องทำเรื่องนอกประเทศไทยเท่านั้น ผ่านสถานทูตไทย/สถานกงสุลใหญ่ไทย ไม่สามารถทำเรื่องขอวีซ่าใหม่ขณะอยู่ในไทยได้

เงื่อนไขสำคัญของ Thai e-Visa

• ในระบบกรอกข้อมูลได้ล่วงหน้า แต่ “ห้ามกดส่งคำขอขณะตัวอยู่ในประเทศไทย”
• ต้องกดส่งคำขอ หลังจากเดินทางออกนอกไทยและผ่าน ตม. เข้าประเทศเพื่อนบ้านเรียบร้อยแล้ว เพราะต้องใช้รูปถ่ายตราประทับขาเข้าของประเทศนั้นๆ แนบเป็นหลักฐานยืนยันว่าเราอยู่นอกไทยจริงๆ

กรณีที่ 1: ขอที่ประเทศตัวเอง (ดีที่สุดหากเตรียมตัวทัน)

• ข้อดี: เอกสารต่างๆ เช่น บัญชีธนาคาร หรือเอกสารส่วนตัว สามารถใช้ภาษาของประเทศนั้นๆ ได้เลย ไม่จำเป็นต้องแปลเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ
• ข้อเสีย: ต้องทำล่วงหน้าก่อนเดินทางมาไทย หากเข้ามาในไทยแล้วต้องบินกลับไปทำ จะเสียค่าเครื่องบินค่อนข้างแพง
• ระยะเวลา: สถานทูตใช้เวลาอนุมัติประมาณ 2-3 สัปดาห์

กรณีที่ 2: ขอที่ประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน (เช่น ลาว, มาเลเซีย, เวียดนาม)

• ข้อดี: ไม่ต้องบินกลับประเทศเกิด ประหยัดค่าเดินทางและเวลา
• ข้อเสีย & ข้อจำกัด:
  • ภาษาเอกสาร: เอกสารทั้งหมดต้องเป็น ภาษาอังกฤษหรือภาษาไทยเท่านั้น
  • มีค่าใช้จ่ายเพิ่ม: ค่าเดินทาง ค่าโรงแรมที่พัก
  • ขั้นตอนของแต่ละประเทศ:
    • บางประเทศจ่ายเงินออนไลน์ได้เลย (เช่น เวียดนาม, มาเลเซีย)
    • บางประเทศ เช่น ลาว ต้องจองคิวไปจ่ายเงินที่สถานทูตไทยด้วยตัวเอง (เปิดรับชำระเฉพาะช่วงเช้า 10.00 น. – 12.00 น.)

Crucial Thai e-Visa Rule

• You can fill out the online form in advance, but DO NOT submit the application while you are still inside Thailand.

• You must press submit after you have left Thailand and entered a neighboring country, as you need to upload a photo of your entry stamp as proof.

Option 1: Applying in Your Home Country (Best if planned ahead)

• Pros: You can submit official documents (like bank statements) in your native language without translating them into English.
• Cons: You must apply before coming to Thailand. Flying back home just to apply for a visa can be very expensive.

Option 2: Applying in a Neighboring Country (e.g., Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam)

• Pros: You don’t need to fly back to your home country, saving both time and money.
• Cons & Requirements:
  • Document Language: All documents must be in English or Thai only.
  • Extra Expenses: Travel costs and hotel booking fees.
  • Different Processes:
    • Some countries allow online payment (e.g., Vietnam, Malaysia).
    • In some countries like Laos, you must book an appointment to pay the fee in person at the Thai embassy (open for payment in the morning from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM).
• Processing Time: Fast, usually takes about 7–10 days.

Popular neighboring countries: Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines (Laos is the most popular choice).

Some people worry that if they visit Thailand often (e.g., entering using visa exemption more than twice a year), Thai Immigration might question them or block their entry.

• Answer: If you re-enter Thailand with a newly approved visa from a Thai embassy, it counts as a proper visa category—not a visa exemption—so Immigration will let you enter normally.
