เหตุผลเดียวที่คนเลือกซื้อตั๋ววันที่ 60 เลยคือ “ประหยัดค่าตั๋ว” (เพราะตั๋วไป-กลับมักถูกกว่าซื้อแยก) หากคุณยอมรับความเสี่ยงและอยากใช้วิธีนี้ แนะนำให้เตรียม “แผนสำรอง” ดังนี้:

✅ ซื้อตั๋วกลับภายใน 30 วันก่อน: เพื่อให้เอกสารทุกอย่างตรงตามเงื่อนไขฟรีวีซ่า ผ่านฉลุยทั้งสายการบินและ ตม.

Even if you fully intend to extend your stay legally once you are in Thailand, holding a return ticket that exceeds your initial 30-day allowance comes with two major risks:

1. The Airline May Deny You Boarding (At Your Origin Airport)

This is the biggest hurdle. Airlines are responsible for making sure passengers have the correct travel documents. If Thailand denies you entry, the airline has to fly you back at their own expense.

⚠️The Scenario: When the check-in agent sees you can only stay for 30 days, but your return ticket is for Day 60, saying “I will extend it later” won’t work because you don’t have official proof yet. The airline has the right to refuse your check-in immediately.

2. Getting Questioned by Thai Immigration

If you manage to pass the airline check-in and arrive in Thailand, the Immigration officer might ask to see your return ticket.

⚠️ The Scenario: If they see your ticket is for Day 60, they might look at you with suspicion. Since your 30-day extension hasn’t happened yet, they can view you as a traveler without a valid plan to leave the country on time and may deny you entry.

The only reason people do this is to save money (since round-trip tickets are usually cheaper). If you want to take this risk, you must prepare a “Backup Ticket”:

🔸 Buy a cheap “Throwaway Ticket”: Buy a cheap one-way flight or a bus/train ticket from Thailand to a neighboring country (like Laos, Malaysia, or Cambodia). Make sure the travel date on this ticket is within your first 30 days.

🔸 How to use it: Show this ticket to the airline or Thai Immigration to prove that you do have a plan to leave within 30 days. (Whether you actually use that ticket or choose to extend your stay instead is up to you).

✅ Buy your return ticket within the 30-day limit first: This ensures all your documents perfectly match the visa-free rules. You will pass the airline and Thai Immigration with zero issues.

✅ Choose a “Flexible / Changeable” ticket: These tickets cost a little bit more than the cheapest promo tickets, but they are worth it.

✅ Change the date later: After you safely enter Thailand and successfully get your 30-day extension at a Thai Immigration office, simply contact your airline to change your return flight to Day 60 (you will only pay the fare difference, if any).

Although the risks mentioned above are real and have happened to some travelers, most people from developed countries (not on Thailand’s watch list) rarely face issues. Many enter with a one-way ticket or a return flight that exceeds the visa-free period, simply by explaining that they plan to extend their stay.

However, if you want to be 100% safe and avoid any hassle, here is what you should do:

1. Entering Visa-Free (Visa Exemption)

• Safest Option: Have a return or onward ticket within your visa-free limit.
• If you don’t have one: Having any ticket leaving Thailand to another country is still much safer than having no onward ticket at all.

2. Entering on a Tourist Visa

• You can easily book a return ticket within 90 days. This is completely fine and has no issues.

3. Entering on a Non-O Visa

• You can travel to Thailand with a one-way ticket.
