Main documents required

• Non-Immigrant O (Non-O) visa obtained online from overseas.
• Foreign passport certified by the applicant’s embassy in Thailand (or certified in the home country + legalized by the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate before traveling to Thailand) then translated into Thai and the translation legalized by the Consular Department in Thailand.
• TM.30 notification of residence submitted online or at the local Immigration Office.
• Copy of the house owner’s Thai ID card and house registration (Tabien Baan).
• Copies of Thai ID cards and house registrations of two witnesses.
• Two 2-inch photographs
• Some district office may also require a birth certificate or other documents showing the foreigner’s father’s and mother’s names.

Process

1. Apply at the district office (Amphoe) or municipal office (Khet) with:
   • The house owner and the foreigner applicant (a power of attorney can be used)
2. Provide two witnesses who can verify the applicant’s identity (an interview will be conducted)
3. Processing time: within 30 days

Required documents:

• Yellow House Registration Book
• Passport
• Birth certificate or certificate of birth (translated into Thai and legalized by the consulate)
• Application fee: 60 THB

Once the yellow house registration book is issued, the foreigner can immediately apply for a Foreigner Identification Card (Pink ID Card).
The process takes around 15 minutes. The card includes a 13-digit ID number (beginning with 6, 7, 8, or 9) and can be used as official identification within Thailand.

Notes:

• Each district office may have slightly different requirements or procedures.
• Even foreigners not married to Thai nationals but with a clear, long-term residence (e.g., long-term rental contract) may also apply for a Yellow House Registration Book in some areas.
• The Pink ID Card ≠ Thai nationality — it simply makes dealing with Thai authorities and daily transactions much easier.
