Eligibility

• Must be 50 years old or above
• Must have 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account
  OR a monthly income of 65,000 THB
• No health insurance required

Initial Stay Period

• Successful applicants receive an initial 90-day permit.
• Before it expires, they can apply for a 1-year extension of stay, renewable annually (based on extension requirements).

Who This Is Suitable For

• Foreigners who already have a Thai bank account
  (Because normally a Non-O visa is needed to open one, unless they had an account from the past.)

• Foreigners whose embassy issues income/retirement verification letters easily

• However, immigration may request additional proof of income sources if using an income letter.

Disadvantages of Applying Inside Thailand

• You must already have a Thai bank account to apply.
• If you do not have a Thai bank account:
  • You cannot open one while on a visa exemption.
  • You must first apply for a Non-O visa online from your home country before entering Thailand.
• If using an income or pension letter from your embassy, the document must be:
  • Embassy-certified (original)
  • Translated into Thai
  • Legalized at the Department of Consular Affairs (MFA Thailand)
• (Updated November 2025) If a foreigner enters and leaves Thailand more than twice in that year, immigration officer may not allow to change their visa.

Advantages of Applying Inside Thailand

• You can enter Thailand using a single visa exemption
• and directly convert it to a Non-O Retirement Visa.

Application Process

• Apply at the Immigration Office in the province where you reside.
• Submit your application at least 15 days before your current stay permit expires.
• The applicant must appear in person.

Required Documents

• Passport copy + Thai entry stamp
• TM6 / TDAC registration (must be completed within 3 days before entering Thailand)
• TM30 residence notification (recommended to file on the first day of arrival)
• One 2-inch photo
• Application fee: 2,000 THB

Financial Evidence (choose ONE option)

a) Income / Pension Letter

• Must show at least 65,000 THB per month
• Can be issued by the applicant’s embassy in Thailand or a relevant authority abroad
• Must be:
  • Embassy-certified
  • Translated into Thai
  • Legalized at the Department of Consular Affairs

b) Thai Bank Account (Savings)

• Must be a Thai bank account under the applicant’s name only
• Required documents:
  • Bank letter confirming the account balance (in Thai)
  • Updated bankbook showing at least 800,000 THB

c) Combined Method (Income + Savings)

• The total must be at least 800,000 THB, for example:
  • Thai bank savings: 400,000 THB
  • Monthly income: 35,000 THB × 12 months = 420,000 THB
  • Total: 820,000 THB (meets the requirement)
