1) Visa Exemption / Free Visa

• For 94 eligible countries.
• Stay allowed: 30–60 days (depending on the period). Can extend at Immigration for 30 days.
  Usually allowed 2 entries per year.
• Easiest option —Visa-free, no advance application. (Just register before entering Thailand)

2) Tourist Visa (Single Entry – TR Single)

• Online application only
• Single-entry tourist visa.
• Stay allowed: 60 days + 30-day extension at Immigration.
• For travelers not eligible for the free visa.
• Even if your country has free-visa access, you can still apply for this visa first, then use your free-visa entry later to maximize your total time in Thailand.

3) Tourist Visa (Multiple Entry – METV) Only certain countries are permitted.

• Online application only
• Allows multiple entries for 6 months.
• Each entry: 60 days + 30-day extension.
• This means that within 6 months from the date of entry to Thailand, you can enter and exit as many times as you want, but each stay cannot exceed 60 days. If you think you will exceed that, you can apply for a 30-day extension. During this 30-day period, you may also enter and exit multiple times. However, everything must still fall within the 6-month validity period.
• In reality, this visa is almost no longer useful nowadays. I’m just explaining it because some people have asked about it.
• Downsides:
  • Much higher fee than the single-entry visa.
  • Requires more documents and usually higher proof of income.

4) Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)

• Online application only.
• This is a long-stay visa for tourists and lifestyle travelers who want to stay in Thailand for an extended period without needing to marry a Thai citizen and without being of retirement age.

Length of stay:

• Up to 180 days per entry
• Multiple entries for 5 years
• Unlimited entries to Thailand
• You may apply for a 180-day extension once per year

Examples:

• You can stay in Thailand for 180 days, or less if you prefer. When you leave Thailand and re-enter, you will receive a new 180-day stay. You can repeat this process throughout the 5-year validity.
• If you don’t want to leave and enter frequently, you may stay 180 days and then apply for a 180-day extension without leaving Thailand. After completing the 180 + 180 days, you must leave the country and return to receive a new 180-day stay. This cycle can continue for up to 5 years.

Requirement:

• Bank balance of 500,000 THB (Either a Thai or foreign bank account)
• Employment requirement:
• Working in Thailand is prohibited, and you must not have any income from within Thailand.
• Proof of employment or business with income from abroad only
• Thai employment documents are not accepted
• Retirement documents are not accepted
