ภาพรวม: วางแผนเข้าไทย ระยะสั้น – ระยะยาว

เนื่องจาก วีซ่าไทยมีหลายประเภท บทความนี้จะสรุปเฉพาะประเภทวีซ่าที่ชาวต่างชาติส่วนใหญ่ใช้งาน ได้แก่:

  • ฟรีวีซ่า (Visa Exemption)
  • วีซ่าท่องเที่ยว (TR Visa)
  • DTV Visa
  • Non-O Visa (คู่สมรสคนไทย / เกษียณ)

ด้านล่างคือแนวทางเลือกวีซ่า ตามระยะเวลาที่ต้องการอยู่ไทย และ ความถี่ในการเดินทางเข้าออกประเทศ

➤1. เข้าไทยฟรีวีซ่าแบบครั้งละไม่กี่วัน (คลิ๊กที่นี่)

1. เข้าไทยฟรีวีซ่าแบบครั้งละไม่กี่วัน

โดยสากลไม่ควรเกิน 180 วันต่อปี (เป็นเกณฑ์ที่ปลอดภัยที่สุด) เช่น

  • อยู่ไทยครั้งละไม่เกิน 15 วัน ไม่ได้จำกัดจำนวนครั้ง ควรเว้น 1 เดือน
  • อยู่ไทยครั้งละไม่เกิน 30 วัน ควรเว้น 1-2 เดือน
  • อยู่ไทยครั้งละไม่เกิน 45 วัน เข้าต่อเนื่องกัน 2 ครั้ง
    • ไม่ได้มีเกณฑ์จำกัดห้ามเข้าในครั้งที่ 3
    • แต่จะมีการตรวจและพิจารณาเหตุผลการเข้าที่เข้างวดขึ้นมาก
    • ขอดูการเงินที่มากกว่า 20,000 บาท
    • หรือจดหมายหรือหลักฐานของคนไทยที่ผู้เดินทางจะเข้ามาเยี่ยม
    • และมีสิทธิ์ปฏิเสธการเข้าประเทศได้ หากสงสัยว่าไม่ใช่นักท่องเที่ยวจริง

  • ไม่มีเกณฑ์ที่ตายตัว ทั้งนี้ขึ้นกับดุลพินิจของเจ้าหน้าที่ตม.

  • ฟรีวีซ่าอย่างเดียว [(60+30)+60] = 150 วันต่อปี
    • รอบแรก: อยู่ไทยครั้งละ 90 วัน (ฟรีวีซ่า 60+ขออยู่ต่อ 30)
    • ออกจากไทย(แนะนำ 7 วันขึ้นไป)
    • แล้วกลับเข้าไทยใหม่
    • รองสอง: อยู่ไทยอีก 60 วัน (ครั้งนี้อาจขออยุ่ต่อได้แค่ 7 วัน ซึ่งไม่แนะนำให้ขออยู่ต่อเพราะไม่คุ้ม)
    • ใน 1 ปี ทำแบบนี้ได้ 2 รอบ รวม 157 วัน
  • ฟรีวีซ่า + TR visa [(60+30)+60] + [60+30] = 240 วันต่อปี
    • สองรอบแรก ทำเหมือนฟรีวีซ่า 90+60 วันข้างบน
    • ครบแล้ว ออกจากไทย
    • ขอวีซ่าท่องเที่ยวกลับเข้ามาใหม่
    • แต่ในทางปฏิบัติ ต้องใช้เวลาในการทำวีซ่าท่องเที่ยวนอกประเทศไทย ฉะนั้นเต็มที่ก็ได้ TR สองรอบ (แต่แนะนำรอบเดียวก็พอแล้ว)
    • ขอวีซ่าท่องเที่ยวกลับเข้ามาได้ 1-2 ครั้งต่อปี แล้วแต่กรณี
      • ถ้าเคยเข้าฟรี 2 รอบอยู่ครบเต็ม90+60 ขอวีซ่าท่องเที่ยวกลับเข้ามาได้ 1 ครั้ง
      • ถ้ายังไม่เคยเข้าฟรี ขอวีซ่าท่องเที่ยวเข้ามาได้ 3 ครั้ง

  • จำนวนครั้งเป็นแค่คำแนะนำจากประสบการณ์เท่านั้น
  • ไม่มีเกณฑ์ที่ตายตัว ทั้งนี้ขึ้นกับดุลพินิจของเจ้าหน้าที่ตม.

    1. ขอวีซ่า Non-O คู่สมรส/เกษียณ ก่อนมาไทย อยู่ได้เบื้องต้น 90 วัน แล้วขออยู่ต่อได้ 1 ปี
    2. ขอวีซ่า DTV สำหรับคนบางกลุ่ม
    3. สำหรับคนที่ไม่ได้จดทะเบียนสมรสกับคนไทย หรือไม่ใช่วัยเกษียณ 50 ปีขึ้นไป ไม่สามารถขอ Non-O คู่สมรส/เกษียณ แต่สามารถขอวีซ่าเรียนและ Non-O ชนิดอื่นได้
  • อยู่แบบไม่ต่อเนื่อง ต้องมีการออกจากไทย

ทำไมต้องขอวีซ่า Non-O ก่อนมาไทย ถ้ามาไทยฟรีวีซ่าแล้วค่อยขอเปลี่ยนจากฟรีวีซ่าเป็นวีซ่า Non-O ได้มั้ย?

เพราะ…

  • การใช้ Non-O เข้าไทยครั้งแรกจะอยู่ได้ 90 วัน แล้วต้องขออยู่ต่ออีก 1 ปี
  • กระบวนการขออยู่ต่อ ต้องฝากเงินในบัญชีไทยต่อเนื่อง 2 เดือน
  • แต่ฟรีวีซ่าไม่สามารถเปิดบัญชีไทยได้ จึงต้องให้ขอ Non-O มาก่อนเข้าไทยเพื่อใช้เปิดบัญชีไทย
  • เมื่อเข้าไทยมาแล้วก็รีบเปิดบัญชี นำเงินเข้าตามเกณฑ์ ฝากต่อเนื่องให้ครบ 2 เดือน ถึงจะสามารถขออยู่ต่อได้

คำแนะนำสำหรับมือใหม่

  • คนที่ยังไม่มีบัญชีไทย อย่ามาไทยด้วยฟรีวีซ่า
  • ทุกคนทำเองได้ทุกขั้นตอน เพียงเตรียมตัวก่อนมาไทย อย่าคิดจะมาไทยด้วยฟรีวีซ่าแล้วค่อยคิด
  • การขอวีซ่าก่อนเข้าไทย จะทำให้ทุกอย่างราบรื่น ไม่เครียด ไม่สับสน
➤5. สำหรับต่างชาติที่ยังไม่มีทะเบียนสมรสกับคนไทย (คลิ๊กที่นี่)

5. สำหรับต่างชาติที่ยังไม่มีทะเบียนสมรสกับคนไทย

  • ต้องจดทะเบียนสมรสกับคนไทยก่อน จดที่ต่างประเทศก็ได้ หรือที่ไทยก็ได้
  • ถ้าจดทะเบียนสมรสที่ต่างประเทศแล้ว
    • ก็ใช้ทะเบียนสมรสต่างประเทศขอวีซ่า Non-O ก่อนเข้าไทยได้เลย
  • ถ้าจะมาจดทะเบียนสมรสที่ไทย
    • ก็ต้องมาจดทะเบียนสมรสที่ไทยก่อน แล้วค่อยออกจากไทย เพื่อทำวีซ่า Non-O กลับเข้ามาไทยอีกที

Overview: Planning Your Entry to Thailand for a Short/Long-Term Stay

Since Thailand offers many types of visas, this article focuses only on the visa categories most commonly used by foreign visitors:

  • Visa Exemption (Visa-free)
  • Tourist Visa (TR Visa)
  • DTV Visa
  • Non-O Visa (Thai spouse / retirement)

Below is a guide to selecting the right visa based on how long you plan to stay in Thailand.

➤1. Entering Thailand under visa exemption for short stays (Click here)

1. Entering Thailand under visa exemption for short stays

As a general guideline, it is recommended not to exceed 180 days per year in total,
as this is considered the safest threshold (for example).

  • Staying in Thailand no more than 15 days per visit:
    No fixed limit on the number of entries, but it is advisable to leave at least 1 month between visits.
  • Staying no more than 30 days per visit:
    It is recommended to leave 1–2 months between entries.
  • Staying no more than 45 days per visit:
    Two consecutive entries may be allowed.
    • There is no official rule prohibiting a third entry,
      but screening and consideration of the purpose of entry become much stricter.
    • Immigration officers may request:
      • Proof of funds exceeding 20,000 THB, or
      • A letter or supporting documents from a Thai person being visited.
      • And entry may be denied if immigration officers suspect that the traveler is not a genuine tourist.

Note:

  • There are no fixed or guaranteed rules.
  • Entry approval is entirely at the discretion of the immigration officer.

2. Staying in Thailand as Long as Possible, Continuously, Without Having Non-O or a Long-Term Visa

  • Using Visa Exemption Only [(60 + 30) + 60] = 150 days per year
    • Stay 90 days (60 + 30)
    • Leave Thailand for at least 7 days
    • Re-enter and stay another 60 days
      • (The extension for this second entry is usually only 7 days and generally not recommended)
    • Total possible in 1 year: 157 days
  • Visa Exemption + TR Visa [(60 + 30) + 60] + (60 + 30) = 240 days per year
    • Complete the first cycle (90 + 60)
    • Leave Thailand
    • Apply for a new Tourist Visa (TR) outside Thailand
    • Enter again and stay (60 + 30)
    • Technically, you can apply for TR multiple times per year,
      but in practice you usually manage up to 2 rounds after Visa Exemption (2 rounds), because each TR must be take at least 14 days applied for outside Thailand.
      (One round per year is generally enough.)
  • You can apply for a new Tourist Visa 1–3 times per year, depending on the case..
    • If you have already entered twice on visa-exemption and stayed the full 90+60 days, you can return with a Tourist Visa one more time.
    • If you have never used visa-exemption, you can enter with a Tourist Visa up to three times.

Note:

  • The number of entries is only a guideline based on experience.
  • There are no fixed rules; approval depends on the discretion of the immigration officer.

  • Staying continuously in Thailand without leaving the country.
    1. Apply for a Non-O Visa (Thai spouse/retirement) before entering Thailand. This allows you to stay for an initial 90 days, and then you can extend for 1 year.
    2. Apply for a DTV Visa if you belong to an eligible group.
    3. If you are not legally married to a Thai citizen, or if you are under 50 years old, you are not eligible for the Non-O spouse/retirement visa. However, it is still possible to apply for an education visa or other types of Non-O visas.
  • If you don’t mind leaving Thailand periodically
    You can alternate between:
    • TR Visa applied abroad + extension (60 + 30)
    • Then exit and re-enter with Visa Exemption + extension (60 + 30)

  • Apply for a Non-O Visa (Thai spouse / retirement) before entering Thailand:
    • Enter Thailand and stay for 90 days
    • Then extend for 1 year

**Why must you apply for Non-O before entering Thailand?
Can’t you enter with Visa Exemption and switch to Non-O later?**

Because:

Therefore, you must first enter Thailand with a Non-O Visa,
open a Thai bank account immediately, deposit the required funds,
and maintain the balance for 2 full months to qualify for the extension.

Tips for Beginners

  • If you don’t have a Thai bank account yet, do not enter Thailand with a Visa Exemption.
  • You can complete every step on your own — just prepare before coming to Thailand.
  • Do not arrive on a Visa Exemption and figure things out later.
  • Applying for a visa before entering Thailand will make everything smoother, less stressful, and far less confusing.

  • You must have a registered marriage before applying for a Non-O spouse visa.
  • If you marry abroad:
    • You can use your foreign marriage certificate to apply for a Non-O Visa before coming to Thailand.
  • If you plan to marry in Thailand:
    • You must first complete the marriage registration in Thailand,
    • then exit Thailand,
    • apply for a Non-O Visa abroad,
    • and re-enter Thailand with that visa.
